Therapeutic Indications

Ciclosporin is indicated for:

Prevention of graft rejection following allogeneic bone marrow and stem cell transplantation

Irrespective of gender only Children (1 year - 12 years old) , Adolescents (12 years - 18 years old) Adults (18 years old or older)

Bone marrow transplantation

Prevention of graft rejection following allogeneic bone marrow and stem cell transplantation.

Prevention or treatment of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD).

Treatment 2: Intravenous - 3-5 mg/kg divided doses daily

Prevention of graft rejection following solid organ transplantation

Solid organ transplantation

Prevention of graft rejection following solid organ transplantation.

Treatment of transplant cellular rejection in patients previously receiving other immunosuppressive agents.

Treatment 2: Intravenous - 2-6 mg/kg divided doses daily

Nephrotic syndrome

Irrespective of gender only Children (1 year - 12 years old) , Adolescents (12 years - 18 years old) Adults (18 years old or older)

Steroid-dependent and steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome, due to primary glomerular diseases such as minimal change nephropathy, focal and segmental glomerulosclerosis, or membranous glomerulonephritis.

Ciclosporin can be used to induce and maintain remissions. It can also be used to maintain steroid-induced remission, allowing withdrawal of steroids.

Atopic dermatitis

Ciclosporin is indicated in patients with severe atopic dermatitis when systemic therapy is required.

Treatment of Behçet uveitis with repeated inflammatory attacks involving the retina in patients without neurological manifestations.

Severe keratitis with dry eye disease

Irrespective of gender only Adults (18 years old or older)

Treatment of severe keratitis in adult patients with dry eye disease, which has not improved despite treatment with tear substitutes.

Rheumatoid arthritis

Contraindications

Active ingredient Ciclosporin is contraindicated in the following cases:

St. John's wort

No gender/age discrimination

Products containing Hypericum perforatum (St John’s Wort) must not be used concomitantly with Neoral due to the risk of decreased blood levels of ciclosporin and thereby reduced effect.

P-glycoprotein substrates
